About Us

Simply put, Grady operates one of the nation’s best trauma centers.

Medical fellows and residents from around the world come to Atlanta to learn at our Marcus Trauma Center. So do military special forces medics who need to know how to efficiently handle complex, severe trauma cases.

We are one of the five busiest Level 1 trauma centers in the nation and the busiest in the Southeast with more than 9000 trauma activations. Trauma patients are routinely brought to Grady from more than 50 local, state-wide, and regional trauma and non-trauma centers because we have the experience to handle the most complicated cases and the newest medical technology to diagnose and treat the most serious conditions. Our trauma experts serve on the faculties of Emory and Morehouse schools of medicine. And, because Grady has one of the nation’s most active trauma research programs, we offer access to some of medicine’s most promising emerging therapies.

At Grady, every patient we treat benefits from the comprehensive medical services we’ve created for Atlanta over more than 125 years. That means we have the expertise to handle whatever trauma you’ve experienced and whatever complications that may arise. Our use of pioneering techniques has won Grady a national reputation for medical advancement in trauma care and areas like burns, stroke, diabetes, infectious diseases, women’s health, sickle cell, and other conditions cared for by specialists in our centers of excellence.

Our Physicians

The Grady Acute Care Surgery Service (Trauma Surgery, Emergency Medicine, and Surgical Critical Care) is made up of a diverse and dedicated team of 15 Attending physicians who are double-boarded certified in both General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care.

Our Attendings hold faculty appointments at both Emory and Morehouse Schools of Medicine, are involved in ongoing research, participate in injury prevention activities, and oversee the training of fellows, residents, and medical students. They are the leaders in trauma resuscitation and their collaborative relationships with one another foster an environment of trust and cohesive care coordination for our trauma patients.
