Dr. Nirav Bhatt was born and raised in India and received his medical degree from C U Shah medical College. He worked in Internal Medicine/Critical Care for a year in Mumbai before he moved to the United States to pursue his Neurology residency at University of Miami/Jackson Memorial hospital. During his intern year, he was awarded ‘Neuro-intern of the year’ by the department of Medicine. He went on to be selected as a chief resident for the Neurology training program during which time he was in charge of the Academic activities for the residency program and was awarded the ‘Edward Bass Professionalism Award’ at the end of his residency. He then completed a fellowship training in Vascular Neurology at the same place where he was also won the ‘Fellow of the year award’ before joining Emory University as a Vascular Neurology Faculty.
During his training, Dr. Bhatt was involved in several research projects including a QI project to reduce Door to Needle times at Jackson Memorial hospital for which he was awarded the ‘Best Resident Research Day Presentation Award’. Apart from QI, his other research interests include Stroke in the young adults and enjoys teaching clinical neurology and Vascular Neuroanatomy. He moved to Atlanta with his wife Pooja, who is starting here as a Nephrology Faculty and likes to play tennis during his free time.
