REFERRALS
How referrals work
Grady’s Cancer Center accepts new patients with referrals from either primary care providers or other specialists. Here’s how they work.
overview
Do I need a referral to receive cancer care?
A referral is a request or order by your doctor to have an exam, test, or procedure performed at Grady.
If you don’t have a referral but need care, we can help. Call us at (404) 616-1000, and we will help set you up with an appointment in one of Grady’s Primary Care Centers, where a physician can partner with you and refer you to the appropriate specialty clinic.
How referrals are processed
Please ask your provider to complete the Grady Cancer Center Outpatient Referral Form and fax it to us at (404) 489-7375. Your provider will also need to include the following:
- Pathology Report(s) with diagnosis if applicable
- Most recent lab work/radiology reports
- Referring Physician’s Notes: Initial consult, operation notes, procedure notes, and hospital records, and patient’s current medications
Referrals will be processed between 3-5 business days. We will contact you to schedule an appointment. To check on the status of a referral for a new patient, please call (404) 489-9000, option 4. Our referral line is staffed Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
