We provide round-the-clock care for severe burn injuries in our ICU and specialized burn unit. Each year, we treat more than 3,500 patients with complex burn needs.
Continued care after discharge, including wound management, therapy, and support services to help patients recover safely at home.
Advanced procedures to improve function and reduce the appearance of burn scars, performed by experienced surgical specialists.
Treatment for serious infections and injuries affecting skin and tissue, using both medical and surgical approaches.
Silver-based antimicrobial dressings that protect wounds and reduce the need for frequent, painful changes.
Specialized support for pediatric patients using play and education to help children and families through treatment and recovery.
CONDITIONS TREATED
What burn conditions do we treat?
Grady provides complete burn care in Atlanta for patients of all ages. We treat injuries caused by flames, scalds, chemicals, and electrical accidents.
Adult burns
We care for common adult burns, which often involve flames, grease, chemicals, and accelerants such as gasoline. Most people who are burned in vehicular accidents in the Atlanta area come to Grady for our burn expertise.
Pediatric burns
We provide specialized care for children, who make up more than 20% of our patients. Common injuries include scald burns from hot liquids and household accidents.
Calciphylaxis
Calciphylaxis is a condition in which calcium accumulates in the skin’s small blood vessels and causes painful skin ulcers. It may cause serious infections.
Hidradenitis suppurativa
Hidradenitis suppurativa usually begins as pimple-like bumps on the skin, commonly on the underarms and groin. If it worsens, the pimple-like bumps can grow deep into the skin, become painful, and cause scarring.
Necrotizing fasciitis (flesh eating disease)
Necrotizing fasciitis is a bacterial infection of the tissue under the skin surrounding muscles, nerves, fat, and blood vessels. Bacteria most commonly enter the body through a break in the skin. Once in the body, they spread quickly and destroy the tissue they infect. Our burn team members have significant experience with the disease.
Stevens Johnson Syndrome (reaction to medication)
Stevens-Johnson syndrome is a rare, serious disorder of your skin and mucous membranes that’s usually triggered by a medication or an infection.

Yes. Emergency burn care is available 24/7 through Grady’s emergency and trauma services.
Our outpatient center is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome on those days from 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Yes. Grady treats both pediatric and adult burn patients in a specialized environment designed for all ages.
Recovery may include rehabilitation, follow-up care, and support services to help restore movement, function, and confidence.
