Sara C. Auld, MD, MSc
Dr. Sara Auld, MD, MSc, is a pulmonary and critical care physician who specializes in lung disease and the care of patients with serious respiratory conditions. She has particular expertise in tuberculosis (TB), including drug-resistant TB and TB in people living with HIV.
Dr. Auld earned her medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed her residency at Massachusetts General Hospital. She also served as an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, where she worked on international tuberculosis prevention and control.
Her research focuses on how TB spreads, how drug-resistant TB develops, and how the body’s immune system responds to infection. She also studies why HIV can make it more difficult for the body to fight TB.
Dr. Auld is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine. Her clinical and research work is focused on improving the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of serious lung infections.
