Doctor's Bio
Dr. Sana Waheed, MD, is a nephrologist who specializes in diagnosing and treating kidney disease. At Grady, she serves as Associate Section Chief of Renal Medicine and cares for patients with a wide range of kidney conditions, including those who need dialysis.
Dr. Waheed earned her medical degree from Aga Khan University and completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Cincinnati. She then completed advanced fellowship training in nephrology at Johns Hopkins Hospital. She is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine.
Dr. Waheed has particular expertise in peritoneal dialysis and preventing infections related to dialysis. Her work focuses on making kidney care safer and improving the quality of treatment for people living with advanced kidney disease.
In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Waheed helps train future kidney specialists and holds national leadership roles in nephrology education. Her clinical, research, and educational work is focused on improving kidney care and helping patients safely manage complex kidney conditions.
