Doctor's Bio
Dr. Ryan Fransman, MD, is a trauma and critical care surgeon who specializes in caring for patients with life-threatening injuries and complex surgical emergencies. At Grady, he provides expert care for patients in the trauma center and surgical intensive care unit, helping guide them through some of their most critical moments.
Dr. Fransman earned his medical degree from the Medical University of the Americas before completing his general surgery residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. He went on to complete advanced fellowship training in Trauma, Acute Care Surgery, and Surgical Critical Care at the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland, one of the nation’s leading trauma centers.
Before joining Grady in 2023, Dr. Fransman served as Medical Director for the Baltimore Police Department’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team, providing medical expertise in high-risk emergency situations. In addition to caring for trauma patients, he is committed to advancing trauma care through research, education, and the training of future surgeons.
