Doctor's Bio
Dr. Melissa H. White, MD, MPH, is an emergency medicine physician with extensive experience caring for patients with urgent and life-threatening illnesses and injuries. Her background in emergency medical services (EMS) gives her a broad perspective on emergency care, from treatment in the community and ambulance to care in the emergency department.
Dr. White earned her medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine and completed her emergency medicine residency at Emory University. She also completed advanced fellowship training in EMS and holds a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health. Before becoming a physician, she worked as a paramedic in Atlanta.
In addition to caring for patients, Dr. White has dedicated much of her career to training and mentoring emergency medicine physicians. She has served in several leadership roles with Emory’s Emergency Medicine Residency Program, including as Residency Program Director.
Dr. White has received numerous awards for teaching, mentorship, and physician education and continues to teach emergency medicine physicians nationally and internationally.
