Dr. Lisa C. Flowers, MD, MPH, is a gynecologist who specializes in preventing, detecting, and treating cancers and precancers caused by human papillomavirus (HPV). At Grady, she directs the Colposcopy and Anoscopy clinics at the Cancer Center and cares for patients who need evaluation and treatment for abnormal cervical, anal, and other HPV-related changes.

Dr. Flowers also cares for women who have an increased genetic risk for ovarian and endometrial cancers. She has extensive experience caring for people with HIV who may face a higher risk of developing certain HPV-related cancers.

In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Flowers leads research focused on finding better ways to prevent and treat HPV-related cancers. Her work has contributed to major national studies examining new treatments and ways to prevent precancerous cells from progressing to cancer.

Dr. Flowers is a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Emory University School of Medicine and a nationally and internationally recognized expert in HPV-related cancer prevention. She helps develop clinical guidelines used by healthcare providers and teaches cancer prevention strategies around the world.
