Doctor's Bio
Dr. Ibironke Apata, MD, is a nephrologist who cares for patients with kidney disease at Grady, providing expert treatment for a wide range of kidney conditions, including chronic kidney disease, kidney failure, and complications requiring specialized nephrology care. She is committed to delivering compassionate, evidence-based care that helps patients protect and improve their kidney health.
In addition to caring for hospitalized patients at Grady, Dr. Apata is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Renal Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine and serves as Director of Infection Control for Emory Dialysis. She also works with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as a nephrology consultant, helping improve dialysis safety and infection prevention.
Dr. Apata earned her medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed her internal medicine residency at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, followed by fellowship training in nephrology at Emory-affiliated hospitals. She also completed advanced training as an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer at the CDC, combining her expertise in kidney disease with a passion for improving patient safety and quality of care.
