Doctor's Bio
Dr. Vincent Marconi is the Director of Infectious Diseases Research at the Atlanta VA Medical Center and a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine, Emory University School of Medicine and jointly a Professor of Global Health in the Rollins School of Public Health and the Emory Vaccine Center, Emory University.
He has extensive experience in conducting multi-site domestic and international clinical and translational trials for people with HIV and hospitalized patients with COVID-19. He has served as the Protocol Chair and site PI of ACTG5336 and Vice-Chair of ACTG5351s, Protocol Chair of COV-BARRIER, Site PI for ACTT, co-Director and Site PI for the Emory CFAR Clinical Core, Director of the Emory CFAR HIV Disease Registry (over 30,000 patients), Site PI for the VACS and NAACCORD cohorts, and previous NIH Study Section Chair for the Fogarty International Center (FIC)-International Cooperative Program (ICP). He has been a PI of multiple NIH R and U grants and VA Merit awards as well as a mentor and co-investigator of numerous NIH, CDC, VA, and Industry-sponsored studies and clinical trials. He has served on multiple national and international research and steering committees. His research focus is on the use of anti-inflammatory interventions for HIV and COVID-19 as well as implementation science to improve retention in care and adherence to ART.
He is a staff physician at Grady’s Ponce de Leon Center which serves a clinic population of over 6,500 patients with HIV in Atlanta and the Atlanta Veterans Affairs Medical Center Infectious Disease Clinic which serves over 2000 patients with HIV throughout the Southeast. In addition to his work at Emory, he maintains an ongoing research collaboration that began in 2004 with colleagues in South Africa. He also works with colleagues in China, Ethiopia, and Uganda.
