Doctor's Bio
Dr. Onkar V. Khullar received his MD degree from Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, in 2006. He completed his general surgery residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in 2013, did a two-year thoracic surgery research fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital from 2008-2010, and completed his Emory cardiothoracic surgery fellowship in 2016, after which he joined our faculty. Dr. Khullar’s clinical specialties include minimally invasive thoracic surgery, thoracic oncology, including lung, esophageal, and mediastinal tumors, and benign thoracic and esophageal disease including achalasia and paraesophageal hernias. His research interests are in thoracic quality and outcome improvements, clinical trials for thoracic malignancies, and patient-reported outcomes. Dr. Onkar V. Khullar has published in some of the most prominent journals in the field of cardiothoracic surgery. He completed a Master of Science degree in Clinical Research from the Emory University Laney Graduate School. Additionally, he is the Co-Chair of the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group Thoracic Surgery Subcommittee and the surgical chair for several national clinical trials.
