Doctor's Bio


Dr. Marc D. Thames, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Emory University and former Chief of Cardiology/endowed Chair at Case Western Reserve University (Wearn Chair) and Temple University (Burnheimer Chair). He was also Chief of Cardiology at the Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center and Professor of Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University. His research was funded (1974-99) by the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Veterans Affairs. From 2004 to 2017, he worked in a large private single specialty cardiovascular practice in Phoenix, AZ. He started his work at Grady in 2017. Since coming to Emory, he received the J. Willis Hurst Award in Teaching as the most outstanding faculty teacher in the Division of Cardiology (2018-19). He is thrilled to finish out his career at Grady Memorial Hospital!
