Bashar attended medical school at the University of Kansas before his residency in Brown University’s Categorical Internal Medicine Program. There, he served as Chief Resident before moving to Atlanta and starting his fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Emory. He completed his fellowship in 2015 and joined the Emory pulmonary faculty. His clinical time is divided between inpatient duty in the medical ICU at Emory Midtown and a pulmonary clinic at the Ponce Center that was started in 2014 with the assistance of the Division of Infectious Diseases. The majority of his time is spent investigating alveolar macrophage biology in the lab of Dr. David Guidot with a specific focus on chronic alcohol ingestion and HIV.
