Doctor's Bio
Dr. Alexander Isakov, MD, MPH, is a board-certified emergency medicine and emergency medical services (EMS) physician with expertise in prehospital care, disaster medicine, emergency preparedness, and the safe transport of patients with serious infectious diseases. His work helps strengthen the emergency response systems that connect patients, first responders, ambulances, and hospitals across metro Atlanta.
Dr. Isakov founded the Emory-Grady EMS Biosafety Transport Program, which provides specialized transportation for patients with suspected or confirmed high-consequence infectious diseases. He also founded the Section of Prehospital and Disaster Medicine, whose physicians provide medical oversight for 911 communications, ground ambulances, and air medical teams. His leadership has helped advance the way healthcare systems prepare for and respond to disasters, infectious disease outbreaks, and other large-scale emergencies.
Dr. Isakov earned his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master of Public Health from Boston University. He completed his emergency medicine residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center and advanced fellowship training in EMS with Boston EMS.
A nationally recognized leader in EMS and disaster preparedness, Dr. Isakov works with local, state, and federal partners to improve emergency response, infectious disease preparedness, and patient safety. He is committed to ensuring patients receive safe, coordinated, and timely emergency care from the moment help is called.
