Dr. Hammett attended medical school at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. She completed her general surgery internship and urology residency at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, followed by a female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery fellowship at the University of California, Irvine. Dr. Hammett’s clinical interests include pelvic organ prolapse, female urinary incontinence, genitourinary fistulas, and urethral diverticulum. She is a member of the American Urogynecologic Society, Society of Women in Urology, and the American Urological Association. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Urology, and holds sub-specialty certification in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Hammett is closely involved in teaching and education, and thoroughly committed to mentoring medical students and urology residents. She has authored several book chapters and multiple articles in peer-reviewed scientific journal articles, and has participated and presented at regional and national meetings.
