Marilyn G. Foreman, MD
Dr. Marilyn G. Foreman, MD, MS, is a pulmonary and critical care physician with decades of experience caring for patients with lung disease at Grady. She specializes in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other conditions that affect breathing and lung function.
Dr. Foreman helped establish pulmonary and critical care services at Grady for the Morehouse School of Medicine Internal Medicine Residency Program in 1992. She is a Professor of Clinical Medicine at Morehouse School of Medicine.
In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Foreman is a nationally recognized COPD researcher. Her work focuses on understanding why some people are more likely to develop COPD, how genetics and tobacco use affect lung health, and the factors that can help people successfully stop smoking.
Dr. Foreman also leads research at Grady as part of the national COPDGene Study. Her clinical and research work is focused on improving the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of COPD and helping people protect their lung health.
