Doctor's Bio
Dr. Irfan Husain, MD, MPH, is an emergency medicine physician at Grady with specialized expertise in emergency medical services (EMS), prehospital care, and disaster preparedness. He cares for patients in Grady’s Emergency Department and works with EMS teams to improve the care patients receive before they arrive at the hospital.
Dr. Husain earned his medical degree from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University and a Master of Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, with a focus on crisis response and humanitarian assistance. He completed his emergency medicine residency at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, followed by advanced fellowship training in Emergency Medical Services at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
In addition to caring for patients at Grady, Dr. Husain helps advance EMS and disaster medicine through research, education, and medical leadership. His work focuses on improving emergency response and helping healthcare systems and communities prepare for disasters and other large-scale emergencies.
