Doctor's Bio
Dr. Andre L. Holder is a clinician scientist with multiple specialty backgrounds (emergency medicine, internal medicine, and critical care medicine). He is an assistant professor in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at Emory University. Through collaborations with colleagues in the Department of Biomedical Informatics, his primary area of research focus is the successful clinical deployment of advanced data-driven (machine learning) algorithms to predict clinical decompensation. His research goals are to (1) determine appropriate timing and use of interventions to prevent or mitigate syndromes of critical illness (e.g. sepsis) by forecasting the evolution of patient decompensation and organ failure; (2) advance the understanding of sepsis pathophysiology through innovative data science techniques; and (3) identify novel dynamic physiologic biomarkers in sepsis. Other areas of research interest include early sepsis resuscitation, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and hemodynamic monitoring. He attends in the medical ICU at Grady Memorial Hospital and a mixed medical/surgical ICU at Emory Midtown Hospital.
