EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN
Changing lives starts here. Grady EMS Academy can help you get started. Our Emergency Medical Technician (EMT or EMT-B) Program trains you to respond to 911 calls and give care before a patient reaches the hospital.
Program details
Grady is Atlanta’s only hospital-based EMS school. You’ll learn from experts, train at one of the busiest trauma centers in the country, and get hands-on experience in the field.
What is AN EMT?
EMTs are the front line of emergency care in the field. They are trained to:
- Stabilize and transport patients
- Perform CPR and operate an AED
- Provide airway and bleeding management
- Assist in emergency childbirth
- Support patients in medical and trauma emergencies
Upcoming EMT Classes – Fall 2025
- Registration Deadline: September 12, 2025
- Course Duration: 20 weeks
- Class Schedules:
- Monday/Wednesday: 8 AM – 2 PM
- Tuesday/Thursday: 8 AM – 2 PM or 5 PM – 9 PM
Note: Classes may be canceled if minimum enrollment is not met
What You Need to Enroll
To enroll, you must:
- Be 18 or older with a valid state ID or driver’s license
- Provide proof of high school graduation or GED
- Score 60% or higher on the ATI TEAS Allied Health Exam
- Pass a background check and drug screening
- Be up to date on these vaccines:
- MMR, TDaP, Varicella, Hep B, COVID-19, and Flu
Cost and What’s Included
Program Tuition: $1,900.00
Includes:
- 2 uniform shirts
- Access to EMS Testing & Platinum Planner
- Tuberculosis screening
- National Registry exam & voucher
Extra Pre-Admissions Costs:
- ATI TEAS Exam: $70
- Background check & drug screen: $79.95
- ACEMAPP onboarding: $50
Students are responsible for additional supplies, such as uniform pants, boots, a stethoscope, BP cuff, scissors, textbooks, and school supplies.
Grady EMS does not accept federal financial aid or HOPE grants.

About the ATI TEAS Exam
Important Info:
- Create an account at www.atitesting.com before your test date.
- Pay exam costs $70, by credit or debit card on test day (no cash or checks).
- Testing is held at 235 Estoria Street SE, Atlanta, GA 30316
- Arrive at least 15 minutes early.
- Late arrivals may be asked to reschedule, depending on availability.
- All applicants must take the test – even if you have a degree or previous certification.
- Scores are valid for 2 years.

Background Check & Drug Screen
- Go to www.advantagestudents.com and create an account.
- Choose to “Share” results with Grady Student Education.
- Select the “Student Package” (includes a background check and drug screen).
- Follow the instructions to complete your screening.
Note: We only accept results from Advantage Students.

- Step 4: Submit proof of immunizations and required documentation
