Submission Timeline

Grady Health System, in collaboration with the Morehouse School of Medicine and Emory University School of Medicine, invites current resident physicians and fellows to submit research abstracts or case reports to the 8th Annual William E. Booth and James Zaidan Resident Research Day at Grady. This event will take place on Friday, May 10, 2024.

Join us and help promote scholarly activity and engagement, strengthen graduate medical education, and advance research in the clinical sciences.

Submission Timeline

  • March 22, 2024 – Deadline for Online Abstract Submissions
  • April 5, 2024 – Notifications of Oral and Poster Presentations
  • May 3, 2024 – PowerPoint Presentations for Oral Presentations Due
  • May 10, 2024 – Resident Research Day @ Grady

**Abstracts will not be accepted after the deadline.**

Eligibility Requirements

  • Participation is limited to current resident physicians or fellows at Morehouse School of Medicine and Emory University School of Medicine.
  • Participants must have program approval to submit abstracts.
  • Participants must be available to present on May 10, 2024.
  • Participants should submit no more than one abstract.

Abstract Text

  • Introduction
  • Objectives
  • Methods
  • Results
  • Conclusion

Research Abstract Submissions Will Be Reviewed for the Following:

  • A Clear and Descriptive Title
  • An Introduction that describes the problem and its significance.
  • Objectives/Hypothesis that are clearly stated.
  • A Methodology that clearly explains the study design, study population, exclusion/inclusion criteria, and statistical test(s) used.
  • Results clearly report the demographics of the study population and answers to objectives or hypotheses.
  • A Discussion/Conclusion that clearly summarizes major points (as compared to previous literature), adds to the current literature, and notes limitations of the study.
  • Appropriate Grammar & Punctuation

Eligibility Requirements and Submissions Guidelines

  • Abstracts may be no longer than 300 words.
  • Do not include references, credits, or grant support.
  • Tables and images may not be included in the abstract.
  • Proofread very carefully for formatting, spelling, and grammar before submission.

Research Abstract Review and Acceptance

  • Research abstracts will be reviewed by members of the Morehouse and Emory School of Medicine faculty.
  • Each abstract will be evaluated by reviewers and selected based on the abstract selection criteria listed above.
  • Any abstracts submitted not meeting the criteria and adhering to these guidelines will not be selected.

Notifications

The corresponding author will receive an e-mail notification of abstract status on April 5, 2024.
