Doctor's Bio
Dr. Mara L. Schenker, MD, MBA, is Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Emory University and Chief of Orthopaedics at Grady Memorial Hospital, one of the nation’s busiest Level I trauma centers. She also serves as Associate Chief Medical Information Officer (ACMIO) for Grady, where she leads initiatives at the intersection of clinical care, informatics, and quality improvement.
A fellowship-trained orthopaedic trauma surgeon, Dr. Schenker’s academic work focuses on complex fracture care and system-level innovation to improve outcomes for trauma patients. She has published more than 80 peer-reviewed manuscripts and 150 abstracts and authored multiple book chapters.
Dr. Schenker is an active national leader within the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), the Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA), and AO Trauma North America, contributing to education, research, and leadership development across these organizations. She also serves as Chief Medical Officer of the CWC Alliance, a nonprofit dedicated to preventing opioid misuse and promoting community-based wellness initiatives.
An alumna of Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, Dr. Schenker integrates evidence-based leadership and value-driven strategy into her clinical and administrative roles. She is recognized for her mentorship of trainees, her commitment to equity in medicine, and her dedication to transforming healthcare systems through collaboration, data-driven insights, and compassionate care.
