Grady’s Avon Breast Center offers breast screenings and treatment using the latest in technique, technology and research all in a modern, patient-focused setting.
Mammograms are the best way to detect breast cancer in its earlier stages. And yet, 4 of every 10 women don’t get annual mammograms. If your doctor orders a screening or diagnostic mammogram – those tests can be performed at Grady. Schedule your mammogram at Grady today!
When Should I Be Screened?
Routine breast screenings can take different forms depending on your age and risk factors. The American College of Radiology recommends women begin to have a screening mammogram each year beginning at age 40. If you have any risk factors or symptoms of breast cancer, discuss these risks or symptoms with your doctor. Then take action.
Men can get breast cancer too. It’s just as important to discuss any changes in your breasts with your doctor.
Grady’s Avon Breast Center offers state-of-the-art digital mammograms. Just like a photograph, these electronic x-rays can be manipulated to improve resolution and contrast. This makes it easier to see through dense breast tissue and find small tumors.
The goal of any breast screening like a mammogram is to detect cancer at the earliest possible stage, when it is most treatable. If you have never had a mammogram, you can learn more by watching this video: Three Components of Breast Screening.
