Dr. Michael Frankel, director of the Marcus Stroke and Neuroscience Center at Grady Memorial Hospital, is the 2015 recipient of the Neurologist Pioneering Award from the Society of Vascular and Interventional Neurology (SVIN).

The SVIN Neurologist Pioneering Award is given in recognition of outstanding contributions to the field of Interventional Neurology.  Chief of Neurology at Grady and Professor and Director of Vascular Neurology at the Emory University School of Medicine, Frankel was key in the development of the Marcus Stroke Center, one of the nation’s leading neurointerventional and neurology research centers.  His leadership has also led to Grady’s certification as a Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center – a designation that makes Grady part of an elite group of hospitals with the state-of-the-art infrastructure, staff and training to treat patients with the most complex strokes.
