Prescription Co-Pay Changes

Beginning April 4, 2011

• Base co-pay for prescriptions: $3
• Prescriptions for homeless patients: $1
• Co-pay for Seniors without Medicare Part D: $5
• Prescriptions from the Emergency Department: $10

More Details:

• If you are a resident of Fulton or DeKalb County with no insurance that pays for your medications, the base co-pay will go from $2 per prescription to $3.
• Co-pays for non-preferred and most non-formulary drugs are $25 per prescription. Some may cost more.
• If you are homeless, the cost per prescription is $1. Qualifying homeless patients may receive a 90-day supply of certain medications for the new $1 fee.
• If you are a senior who is Medicare eligible, and you did not sign up for a Medicare Part D drug plan, the co-pay for generic and preferred drugs is $5 per prescription and $25 for non-preferred or non-formulary drugs. Medicare eligible patients can sign up for the Grady accepted Medicare Part D program. For more information, call (404) 616-5500 (Grady Pharmacy Resource Center).
• Diabetic test strips purchased through the Grady pharmacy are $10 per box.
• Prescriptions from the Emergency Department are a minimum of $10.
• If you are uninsured and do not live in Fulton or DeKalb counties, you will continue to pay the non-discounted cost of your prescriptions.
• If you have Medicaid, Managed Medicaid, or Medicare Part D, your co-pays are determined by your health plan and will not change.

Important: If you do not have insurance and you are a Fulton or DeKalb County resident, you must complete an evaluation with Grady Financial Counseling in order to receive the discounted price for your prescriptions. If you have not been seen by Financial Counseling, discounts will not be provided and you will be charged the full price of your prescriptions.
